The front desk staff were helpful and check-in went smoothly. It seemed to be a one-person operation, though, so they were dealing with reservations and phone calls at the same time, and service could take a while if you arrived at a bad moment. Check-out was at 10 AM, which let me take the morning fairly easy. Still, I'd choose a chain business hotel next time. I booked this place because hotels were so expensive during the World Expo and I figured it would be fine just for sleeping. It's not a typical hotel, though. It's a love hotel that also takes business and leisure guests. I ran into several couples between the front desk and my room. On the way up, I saw a South Asian man who seemed to be on the cleaning staff. There were many sheets stored along the corridor on the room floor, presumably because they need to clean rooms and change sheets often. The room itself was run-down, more like a rental room for a quick get-go than a usual love hotel. The floor creaked and was stained, the desk and table were dirty, and there was dust in the corners. Residue from the kettle had fallen behind the mini-refrigerator and covered it in dust. At least the bed sheets were clean. The air conditioner was clogged with dust and its fan was annoyingly loud. Noise was a big problem. Around 1 AM, I woke to the cleaning staff changing sheets and talking. My room was beside their workroom, and I could hear their conversations late into the night. The walls by the door were unusually thin, and the walls overall seemed questionable. The old building also made loud tapping and exhaust fan noises at night. If you're sensitive to noise, sleeping here could be difficult. I wouldn't recommend it to anyone particular about cleanliness, noise, or the environment. For reference.

Depending on when and where you book, it may cost less than a capsule hotel. My room was spacious for the price, and the bathrooms were clean. I only noticed one dirty spot, a clump of hair in front of the refrigerator. Otherwise, nothing in particular seemed unclean, so I thought it was good value.

Being close to the station is nice, but the front desk interaction was baffling. I had a reservation, yet they said there wasn't one, and quoted 7000 on a weekday instead of 3000. I asked, “7000? Isn't it 3000? Today is Saturday, so it's definitely a weekday.” Then they said, “Oh, sorry, I was wrong,” and chuckled. If they can't tell what day it is or find my booking, I wondered what the point of having someone at the desk was.

The bathroom was about the size of one in a typical apartment, and it came with a toothbrush, pajamas, body soap, shampoo, and conditioner. No comb or hand soap, though, which was a shame, lol. When I first entered, there was a strong sewage smell. I checked and found the toilet cover was broken, and it seemed like the odor was escaping from there. Closing the bathroom door and turning ventilation all the way up helped. It was cheaper than the hotels nearby. Last time I stayed at Re Hotel II Tanimachi 9-chome, and this time at Re Hotel Tanimachi 9-chome. Re Hotel II was newer and cleaner, and the check-in staff there were very professional.
