HOTEL LiVEMAX Yokohama Tsurumi

Booking Date -month 11/2025 My wife fell at work and injured her spinal cord. She has several health issues at times, so I cancelled our Tokyo trip and explained the situation to the hotel. I’d booked three or four days earlier for 28th of December. The staff and owner were rude and completely inflexible. Even after hearing what had happened, they refused to refund any of the money. They simply said they couldn’t return it. I know the refund policy as a foreigner, but this was a genuine emergency and a reasonable situation. It feels very unfair, and I never expected this treatment. We’re all human. This happened to us today, but it could happen to anyone tomorrow. I wish they’d shown at least a little understanding. I’m very disappointed and sad to meet people like this in Japan. I’m writing this so anyone thinking of booking might think twice.

The sink was cracked and there was mold. We were given a smoking room, and when I asked to switch because of my health conditions, they said they had no other rooms for the full three-night stay. Even with the suggested air freshener and purifier, I’ve developed a cough even outside, and feel nauseous when I enter the room. I can only stay in it to sleep. At 7am, staff came on the intercom speaking quickly. My Japanese isn’t good, so I ran downstairs thinking there was an emergency. There wasn’t. They were telling everyone the water pipes weren’t working, but that they were working again. It’s good the water was back, but the whole staff is bilingual, so please use that.

The staff were okay, and the Wi-Fi and wired connections worked well. They have a kettle and microwave for longer stays. The chain presents this as a budget hotel, so think of it more as a basement room for rent or a place to stay than a hotel, and you may feel better about it. By tourist standards, the room is old and dirty. It felt like staying in a place without cleaning could be a TikTok challenge. For a trip to Japan for fun, don’t let this ruin your experience. The experience was alright for the price I booked at.

The location is good, with a supermarket just across the street, but the rooms aren’t as nice as the photos. They’re a bit dark and poorly ventilated, and there isn’t much in the way of room amenities. The lamps didn’t work, and the air-conditioning wasn’t very effective. The whole fourth floor is smoking. There aren’t many irons, and you can only borrow one for an hour. It’s okay for a day or two, but I wouldn’t choose it for a longer stay.
