It felt so homely, with a kind grandma and grandpa. She cooks wonderfully, so be sure to tell her ahead of time if you'd like dinner and breakfast. You don't want to miss her cooking!

Really good. It's an easy walk to restaurants, and with only two rooms, it's relaxing. The owners are very friendly and helpful.

The food is the standout, along with the small, unassuming feel that makes the most of being a minshuku and its simple, lovely rooms. The bath and toilet are shared, and the bath is much like one in an ordinary home. If you want a luxurious, convenient stay on an island or care a lot about the bath, you may be better off looking elsewhere. But for enjoying Yakushima's kind of rural charm, I can't think of a better place!
