The Japanese tatami room was spacious and comfortable, though simple, and the public bath was nice. There are table tennis and pool tables to use for free, with bookings limited to 30 minutes. It’s about a 15-minute walk to Yamaga city center. Check-in uses a QR code sent ahead of time, followed by a four-digit code at the property to open the room key. The system was efficient, though it might not be easy for elderly guests.

The lobby games were a fun surprise: you can reserve the table tennis or billiard table for 30 minutes at a time, and in the evening guests can roast marshmallows there. The hotel is showing its age in some places, but it’s very clean and the staff are friendly. It has what you’d expect from a hotel of its caliber, plus a little more.

I stayed here on a business trip and found it to be a wonderful ryokan. The public bath was well made, and breakfast was nice.

There’s plenty to do in the lounge with friends: a free drink bar, roasted marshmallows, table tennis, billiards, manga you can bring over, Othello, and more. They also have the latest manga, so it’s a comfortable place to relax. Wearing a yukata while roasting marshmallows around the hearth was a rare and memorable experience. The inn is great value and offers comprehensive service. The interior was very clean, the hot spring water was high quality, and amenities such as cleansing lotion were provided, which seems especially nice for women. I’d definitely recommend staying here.
