Everything unfolded within an hour of booking, but the hotel and agency still wouldn't change the date or refund the payment. I had booked about an hour earlier for the wrong date. I called the hotel right away, but nobody there spoke English, so I asked the agency to make the change. They contacted the hotel, which refused.

Once I get to the inn, I’m happy to stay put, especially with the generous dinner and breakfast course. There’s a 7-Eleven within walking distance and two vending machines in the building. I come here often on motorcycle trips to Yamagata Prefecture. It’s handy for the Yamagata Zao Interchange on the Yamagata Expressway, with a self-service gas station nearby and covered motorcycle parking on site. The building is about 50 years old and feels a little dated, but it’s clean and maintained, and the plumbing has been renovated. I always have a pleasant stay.

The warm, kind staff made us feel reassured as a family with children, and we really appreciated the coffee welcome drink in the cold winter. We spent three nights here with our kids. The building is old, but well cared for and comfortable. Thank you very much. We’ll stay here again when we visit Zao.
