After a hike, the bath is just right for washing off all the sweat and dirt. I've used ochiai kan twice for a bath, and the second time I arrived late after they'd closed. They opened specially for me.

We came as a group for a training program, and the service was extremely kind and flexible. The reasonably priced two-day BBQ course included one meal each day. They even arranged alcohol from a liquor store the proprietress knew. We'd definitely stay here again if we get the chance.
The morning bird sounds, fresh air, view of Lake Tanzawa, and starry sky from the window felt like a real luxury. Dinner was generous and full of delicious homemade food, including handmade soba noodles, so I stopped worrying about the lack of nearby convenience stores. Drinks were reasonably priced too, and there was no need to stock up. The inn has what you need, with a free family bath, Wi-Fi, a free washing machine, a drying area, and vending machines. I bought homemade pickled plums as a souvenir, and they had that nostalgic, old-fashioned taste. The landlady was thoughtful, even looking after the hungry kitten that came to visit. It feels like coming home, and it's a special place with warmth from both people and nature.
I'm a little worried that leaving a review will bring more people and make reservations harder to get, lol. Thank you so much, kind landlady. I'll come back when it gets warmer.
The inn was comfortable and the food was delicious, even though the weather wasn't great. I got a lodging voucher through my hometown tax donation.
