Bettei Senjyuan

Yamato Transport is available if you need to send your luggage on to another city. We had one of the best stays we’ve experienced, with exceptionally accommodating staff from the moment we arrived. The hotel, hot springs, reading room, lounge and garden are all beautiful.

The grounds are lovely to wander around, with nature all around, and both the public hot spring baths and the in-room onsen left us feeling rested. On arrival, a guide showed us around the property after we were welcomed with drinks and sweets. The room also had plenty of complimentary snacks and drinks, including a nighttime snack and fruit. I’d definitely stay again and recommend it to others.

Snow had fallen before my visit, so the grounds looked like a winter fairytale. From the complimentary pickup at Minakami station through checkout, the staff were wonderful. Sanae-san showed me to my room, which had a private outdoor bath, and the woman who served dinner was lovely too. The food was delicious, and I enjoyed the public bath and facilities, including the library, igloo and little house with snacks and drinks. I can’t see why Google lists this as four-star accommodation; to me it’s five-star. If you can book a room, I highly recommend it. Huge thanks to everyone.

The ryokan has lots of interesting indoor and outdoor spots to explore, and everyone was warm and hospitable, including the cleaning staff. The team worked together to take good care of us. We enjoyed every part of our two nights: excellent service, good food and a nice room. Now I understand why so many people recommend it as a truly great onsen ryokan.
