The bath and washroom were great, and having hot and cold water dispensers was a nice bonus. I was touched by how friendly the inn staff were. The building may be old, but it’s well looked after, with plenty of power outlets and excellent Wi-Fi. I booked the business plan for one night with two meals, and the food was satisfying and more than enough.

The landlady was very friendly, and the room was spacious with good food. Seafood was served, and octopus shabu-shabu seems to be the specialty. I visited during Golden Week in 2011 while on a tour, my first time in the area. It’s a cozy guesthouse right by the Wakasa Sea, within walking distance of the nearby hot springs. I also enjoyed strolling around town. I’d like to come back if I get the chance.

The fish dishes were all delicious, and I thought the stay was very good value. The building is old, but the interior was very clean, and the friendly, easygoing innkeepers made it a really pleasant visit. I stayed one night on the day of the fireworks display. I’d definitely like to stay again when I visit Takahama.

They were so nice when I called that I booked right away. We got to eat in a private room, which was great, and the food was delicious. The only small letdown was that the sparkling water had gone flat, haha. Apart from that, no complaints. Thank you!

As a woman traveling alone, I was on edge all night and felt like I was dying. The rooms were separated by sliding doors rather than walls, and I could hear both neighbors come home just after 9 p.m. I was between two men and didn’t feel I could make a sound. There was only one sliding door between the rooms. I’ve said this for years, but I’d never known an inn separated like that, and it was a first for me. I really wouldn’t recommend it to women. The business plan was the only one I could book, but the food was delicious, and the landlady was friendly and kind. The black Shiba Inu was adorable too. He barked at first, then quickly got used to things and stopped. There was also a huge centipede in the bathroom, like something out of a joke. That part couldn’t be helped, but this place seems suited to a big family or business travelers.
