The breakfast was nice, and the view from our ninth-floor room was great, even with the balcony door broken. The hotel itself felt old, worn and not consistently clean. For the price, I expected better. There's no shuttle, and it's a long walk to the train or anywhere else. The area is quiet in the evening with few places to eat, so we had to take the train to Kinugawa Onsen or Nikko. Local attractions also involved a 20-minute walk, longer with luggage. The indoor smoking room's smell was noticeable in the lobby.

The baths were very hot, and the sulfur smell wasn't too strong, which I prefer. Staff were all really nice, and though the hotel is old, it was in pretty good shape and clean. We had a package with the train included, making the stay even cheaper. Even without that, there are free drinks from 15h to 17h and again at dinner. The buffet dinner was all-you-can-eat, and the food quality surprised me in a good way. The futon was a little too firm and the blanket a bit short for my 180cm, but it was a pleasant stay for the price. I'd recommend it!

The air conditioning barely worked, and the lobby was like a sauna. The room lights looked like they hadn't been cleaned in a while, their casings were broken, and there were dead bugs inside one of them. Also, most of the staff aren't Japanese 😱

The room was nice, but we couldn't pay by credit card. When we arrived at 8 pm, the whole place seemed deserted, with no staff around. We had to try every way we could think of to get someone to come check us in. None of the staff could really speak English.

The room was so small, and service was just okay. Only some people here speak English. There's no conbini nearby, so I'd suggest going to one beforehand.
