The price was okay and the owner was very kind, but I don't think the stay was worth it. The steps up to the room were so narrow that we left our suitcases in the car. The room was very cold and not really clean.

My wife and I stayed here in late March 2025, and I'd happily choose it again. I was unsure what to expect from Japanese pension accommodation when booking, but learned it's similar to a Western B&B. The pension is in a peaceful spot around Lake Yamanaka. Our room was comfortable and had a private bathroom. We didn't use everything, such as the free bicycles, but the free Wi-Fi was useful and reliable. The hosts were amazing. Our Japanese is very limited and our Chinese even more so, but between Google Translate and their limited English, they met all our needs. For dinner, you can bring your own food or order from a menu for delivery from a local restaurant. The owner can help with your own food, too. We chose the breakfasts prepared by the owner and were glad we did. They were generous Japanese breakfasts served on a tray at exactly the times we asked for. Meals are in a communal dining room, a homely place to chat and share experiences. There was a kettle in our room, but each day the host had hot tea waiting for us when we returned. That was a lovely surprise. The hospitality continued right through to a heartfelt farewell. Would I recommend staying here? Yes. Would I come back? Yes, yes, yes.

Chow Lin was fabulous, so hospitable that I'd give her six stars if I could. We stayed for three nights and had a wonderful time. The rooms are comfortable and very close to the lake and Mt Fuji. It's a great option with a car, and also manageable on foot, with buses and safe walking tracks.

Marie-san was so kind and helped us with everything. The onsen was stunning, and you can reserve a timeslot. There are lots of deer to find in the forest, just a three-minute walk away. Great place.
