We stayed two nights starting April 5, 2025, in a Japanese-style room on the second floor of the building next to the main one. Our large room had a great view of Lake Yamanaka and Mt Fuji. The shared bath, with separate men's and women's areas, has five showers and a rectangular onsen tub that gets very hot. On our floor, four rooms shared three very small toilet rooms, with two sinks beside them. Everything was clean and functional. A large refrigerator and hot water dispenser with tea and coffee are just outside the room. The owners are kind. They don't speak English, but communicating through a phone translation app worked fine. I recommend ordering both meals from them. Breakfast is 1000 JPY and dinner is 2000 JPY per person, paid in cash in advance when ordering. The food was plentiful, delicious, and beautifully presented. Hirano beach is steps away, where we took lovely sunrise photos of Mt Fuji, and Hirano bus stop is a two-minute walk away.

The room was quite large, and the host was nice. It's a cozy place with a view that's well worth the slightly tricky drive to find it at night.

The hotel was clean, and my room was spacious, with a TV, fridge, and heating. Mount Fuji looked beautiful from the room, and the staff were friendly and explained the hotel rules well. Check-in and checkout were easy. The beach, 7 Eleven, and bus top are only a few minutes away on foot, which is convenient. I stayed one night and wished I could have stayed longer.

For the most convenient access to Hirano beach and a chance to take Mt.Fuji photos before sunrise, weather permitting, this is a great place to stay in Yamanakako if shared washrooms are fine with you. I was okay with sharing. The elder lady at the front desk was very nice. She doesn't speak English, but the check-in and instructions were clear, and she had prepared Chinese check-in instructions too, so communication wasn't a problem. The service may not suit everyone.

We were just 20 - 30meter from the lake, with a view of Mount Fuji and plenty of photo opportunities. The hosts also kindly let us park our car and store our luggage, so we could freshen up after walking around the lake Mt. Fuji. Our experience at SUGAKUSO HIRANO was incredible. The host couple were waiting for us at check-in. They don't speak English, so used a translation phone; explaining the hotel's traditions and hot tupe bath took a little time, but the evening bath was fantastic.
