The location is handy, just a short walk from Yudanaka station, and the prices are quite low compared with other places. We had really good breakfast and dinner, served in our own dining area. The rooms are basic, and the heater in one of ours had a problem. The staff were very friendly. They didn't speak English at all, but Google Translate worked well for us.

The hotel is very old and run down, so I wouldn't recommend it to tourists looking for a comfortable night in Yudanaka. It could work for backpackers. The elderly Japanese man on staff was quite nice, though he only spoke Japanese.

The staff and the president made the inn feel like home. We stayed with our dog, and dinner was a very satisfying, filling Shinshu beef sukiyaki. The large public baths have different setups: men have hot and warm water, while the women's bath is relatively warm. That warm bath was so comfortable I could have stayed in it forever. We plan to book here again for our snowboarding trip next year☃

We had a great time at Yudanaka Onsen with our dog, thanks to the generous owner and kind staff. Our dog barked and caused a bit of trouble, but everyone still waved and chatted with us, which we appreciated. The natural hot spring bath was fantastic, and the Shinshu beef sukiyaki at dinner was more than we could finish. Nagano Prefecture has more inns being updated for foreign tourists, but I love this wonderful old-fashioned hot spring inn and hope it won't change too much, even if the next generation takes over. I know things must be difficult, but I'd love to come back. Thank you so much for everything!
