Hotel Chalet-Ryuo

We stayed at hotel chalet ryuoo in March and had a great time. It’s right by the chairlift, and both breakfast and dinner were good. The staff were all wonderful, and the equipment was fine to use. The bath was a good size too. Our room was one of the newly upgraded ones on level 5, and the price was more than reasonable. Thanks to everyone on staff.

The front desk staff were so kind, always sharing useful information and helping us figure out where to go with our rental gear. The bath was really relaxing, and I had it all to myself during my stay. The food was very good and tasted homemade.

After two days of 60 cm snowfall, we could ski in from the hotel, though we still had to walk over 50 meters and skate to the quad lift. My main disappointment was the rental ski clothes and boots, which weren’t great. I should have brought my own gear. The room was Japanese style with a futon. It was a little worn, but very warm thanks to the hot-water radiator system. The communal bath was excellent, though not especially large. Meals felt a bit like Japanese school lunch, with lots of fresh vegetables and a good variety of buffet choices each day. The hotel seemed to mostly have university students, small family groups, and young couples. Staff were friendly, attentive, and courteous. I think most guests are on package tours.

The service was awful, and the rental gear was old and broke easily. Two of our friends were injured and needed urgent hospital treatment. They couldn’t get back before dinner, so we asked staff to save their food or bring it to their room. They refused both requests. Worst experience ever. I won’t stay here again.
