Hotel Heights

For what we paid, the room and meals were fine and we had no problems with them. The ski rental shop, though, was a terrible experience. They have standard, new model, and very new model skis and boards, with higher prices for each tier. But the standard and new model gear was the same. I paid extra for a 'new model' snowboard that was damaged and at least five years old. On the first day, its bindings snapped and injured me. The staff showed no remorse and gave no refund, just another worn board. The next day I found out on the slope that the replacement was a goofy board. I had to find a workbench and switch the old, rusty bindings myself. Again, there was no apology, and the bindings felt shaky from the rust. My friend’s ski pole snapped too, presumably from wear and poor storage. We rented another pair at a nearby store and disposed of the broken pole there. When we returned to the hotel, staff charged him 3000 YEN for the replacement. They said they didn’t believe it was broken because he hadn’t brought back the snapped pole, and accused him of losing it and lying. So much for 'new model'. Don’t rent from these charlatans.

The buffet breakfast and dinner were nice, and service was great. Rooms were spacious enough. The hotel is near a bus stop and within walking distance of Kumanoyu. Wi-Fi coverage was poor and the signal wasn’t very strong, though access in the lobby was high speed.

I came here as part of a bus ski tour that included this hotel as a stop. The hot spring was good.

Service was good, and the food was decent.
