Ikariya Ryokan - Vacation STAY 82818

The rooms weren't modern, but they had their own charm, and we loved our tataki room. They were adequate, and the guest onsen was very clean. I honestly liked it even more than the public baths. They don't have private onsens, but one of the best perks is getting the universal key for the area's public onsens at no extra cost. Staff were so nice and helpful. For the price, this traditional ryokan is great value in Shibu Onsen. It's right in the middle of town, across from the famous Ryokan that supposedly inspired Studio Ghibli and costs an arm and a leg. The Snow Monkey Park is an hour's walk away. I'd definitely come back.

We had a wonderful time at Ikariya ryokan. The food was delicious, the service was amazing, and the location was great, close to the Snow Monkey Park. We also enjoyed visiting Shibu's nine onsens. It all felt magical. Highly recommended!

As someone visiting Japan for the first time, and a gajin, staying here was an amazing way to experience ryokan tradition. The welcome was very hospitable, and the food was excellent.

A very traditional stay that felt like the real Japan. The staff were friendly, breakfast was great, and there's an onsen on site too.
