Yame Green Hotel

I booked the breakfast plan for 7,700 JPY per night, and for the price and location it felt like a solid deal. My overseas friend stayed a full week while exploring Japanese culture with local traditional craft artisans, and this hotel worked well as a base. I stayed one night with them. The hotel is old and very ordinary, with simple, practical rooms, but it sits right in the historic old town of Yame-Fukushima, in the former castle town area. It’s a good fit for budget travelers exploring the district or longer stays focused on traditional culture. Nearby crafts and sights include indigo dyeing, handmade washi paper, lanterns, Buddhist altars, stone lanterns, and authentic Yame matcha and Yame gyokuro tea farms. There’s free parking, a laundry room, bicycle rental for visiting old shrines, temples, and traditional streets, and a rooftop onsen where guests can enjoy a free hot spring while looking over town.
