Hotel Grand Sun Yokohama

For an older business hotel, the staff were polite and breakfast was decent, even if it wasn't anything fancy. I found the cleanliness acceptable, not as bad as some reviews say, though it may vary from room to room. The bed itself was fine, but I could hear doors opening and closing and people working, possibly cleaning, in the hallway, which made it harder to sleep. You can only adjust the air conditioning strength, not the temperature. There's Wi-Fi, but the signal is weak.

For the K Arena LIVE concert, the location worked well, two stops from Yokohama Station, with convenience stores and restaurants nearby. The hotel is old and the rooms are small, though I thought they were clean. The price could have been a little lower. I got a free drink voucher but felt awkward about going to the restaurant downstairs, so I didn't use it. What really affected my stay was the heating-only air conditioning, with no way to set the temperature. I opened the window when the room got hot, but the bedding was only a thin down comforter. I woke up cold in the middle of the night and didn't sleep very well.

I was staying here for a concert at K Arena and got to the hotel by taking the Yokohama Municipal Subway from Shin-Yokohama Station and then walking, about 30 minutes in all. The older man at reception didn't seem suited to customer service. I checked in at 12:30, and after the 13:00 checkout the cleaners were rushing around noisily. Hearing the vacuum bang against the wall in the next room was unpleasant. The room was cramped with twin beds and a side table, and the cleaning was shockingly sloppy: pubic hair beside the kettle, a coffee stain by the side table, and lots of hair in the unit bathroom. I hope they'll clean more carefully.
