The Uza Terrace Beach Club Villas

The hotel's no-visible-tattoo rule is taken very seriously. They mention it on their website, but don't provide a suitable cover-up to wear in the public areas. The ones in the room still weren't enough. My wife was made to feel ashamed of her tattoos, while no one said anything about my two visible arm tattoos. We wouldn't recommend the hotel or return. We booked a premium two-bedroom villa, but it was at the back of the hotel beside a public road. Since we couldn't use the public pool, we tried relaxing beside our private pool, but constant traffic noise was hard to ignore. At check-in we were told tattoos meant we couldn't be seen in public spaces, including the dining room, breakfast area, or pool. The next morning my wife wore the in-room pajamas to cover her tattoos for breakfast. When she went to the toilet, staff wouldn't let her back in, and wouldn't let us take her breakfast to an allowed public area. I raised it with the manager. Staff spoke very little English and apologized, but offered nothing for the unwelcoming treatment or lack of suitable cover-ups. We also booked airport pickup. The website describes a luxury car, but an old white Toyota mini-van arrived, which was disappointing from the start. We tried the fine dining menu that evening, but weren't impressed and found the food basic. Staff were excited to tell us about the wagyu beef, but it was chewy and had little flavor. The next day we took their private boat tour and had a great time snorkeling. The boat itself was old and worn, though, with nowhere comfortable to lounge during the two-hour trip each way to and from the island. We expected at least some comfortable outdoor lounge space. On our last day we ordered breakfast in the room because we didn't feel welcome in the hotel's public areas. It was a feast, but we were disappointed to have to eat in our room instead of enjoying the ocean views. We're writing this as we use their expensive airport drop-off service in the same premium old white Toyota mini-van.

The calm, peaceful atmosphere was just what we needed for a relaxing getaway. This was our second visit to Uza, eight years after the first, and it felt just as wonderful. It was a little quieter this time, and we appreciated the tranquility. The staff were incredibly friendly and went out of their way to help. Our room was spotless and well kept, and our son loved playing in the jacuzzi. Breakfast had plenty of choices, though I missed the buffet we had on our last visit. My parents loved their stay too, and we'd consider coming back with the family.

The food was delicious, especially at the restaurant, and beautifully presented. Service was quick and polite, though the staff speak very little English, so we had to ask and explain things several times. October brought lots of rain and high humidity. There weren't insects, just ants. The internet kept disconnecting and was poor. The location wasn't convenient, far from the airport with nothing to do nearby. Still, it's a good place.

I went to visit a friend staying here, but they wouldn't let us anywhere near the hotel. We couldn't visit at all, not even for a meeting. The staff just stood there expressionless and unapologetic. For a hotel at this price, that's completely unacceptable. Horrible experience. Avoid it and go to Ritz Carlton or somewhere else.
