Hotel Tsutaya

I stayed here for business. The room was simple, and the unit with the bath and toilet was extremely tiny. The refrigerator was small, had no freezer or divider shelf, and didn’t cool well. That was fine in winter, but I wonder how it would be in summer. I also forgot to mention the key arrangement: when you go out, you put the key in a box and take it back from there when you return. Doesn’t that mean anyone could get into any room? I wouldn’t leave valuables in the room.

The location and value for money were excellent. We went out for dinner, and it was about a 10-minute walk to downtown. Uesugi Shrine was roughly the same distance away. There aren’t breakfast restaurants nearby, so ordering breakfast from the hotel is probably best. For 1,100 yen, it came with a variety of side dishes, as in the attached photo. The parking lot wasn’t too small, though it may fill up in peak season. They advised us to ask if that happens. The rooms are generally small, and the bathroom, sink, and toilet barely had enough space to use. The shared toilet on the first floor was spacious and clean, so we recommend that one. If you’re driving, there are several public hot spring baths nearby, along with suburban hot spring inns that offer day-use bathing. Those could be enjoyable. The hotel seems to be run by a very nice couple, though I’m not certain, and we appreciated being able to talk things over with them.

I was a little nervous since this was my first business trip, but I felt completely at ease here. I stayed three nights and four days for work this week, and the room was very clean. The best part was breakfast. Everything was so delicious that I looked forward to it each day. The husband and wife were kind and always had lovely smiles. The wife would say goodbye to me before work. Their smiles and the breakfasts were so relaxing. Thank you so much!

I stayed here for the first time because my usual hotel was full. The front desk staff were kind, and having an outlet by the head of the bed was handy. The air conditioning works well in summer, though I can’t say how it is in winter. The bathtub is the second smallest I’ve encountered, after Otowa. Soundproofing is the second worst I’ve experienced, after the Toyoko Inn in front of the station. If I can sleep, that’s enough, but I think it might fill up if the price were around 5,000 yen. The Wi-Fi is fast, though.
