A clean, quiet place deep in nature, far from town. Getting there involves a narrow road and a steep 20-minute walk downhill, and there's no cell signal. The linens and facilities were clean. There are nice indoor and outdoor baths fed by different sources. The water is clear with a little white sediment. The outdoor bath has a faint gunpowder smell, while the indoor one smells of sulfate. It's 100% natural hot spring water. Strongly recommend it for onsen and nature lovers.

There is almost no cell signal in this deep valley, which makes the ryokan great if you want to get away from everything. You're deep in the mountains, though it isn't all that far. The natural outdoor baths are amazing. They're fenced on three sides, and you can sign up for private time slots. Hikers heading to the beautiful waterfalls above the inn might be able to see you, but people here are very good at looking away to avoid embarrassment. The food is highly rated, with Yonezawa Wagyu Beef or freshly caught trout dinners available. They couldn't accommodate vegan or vegetarian diners, but let us cook our own vegan food in the dining area and gave us lots of delicious rice. Transport from Yonezawa is available by request. The last 20m to the inn is on steep, uneven ground and over a suspension bridge, so it can't be driven. A fantastic onsen ryokan.

The owner is extremely friendly, and it's a perfect spot to relax. Highly recommend it if you love hidden onsens.

Getting here is so difficult, but it's a beautiful place with great hot springs. There's not much around, just lovely quiet and the sound of the stream.

The station shuttle was really convenient, especially since getting here is difficult. I had a wonderful time escaping the city bustle and relaxing until I felt like my mind and body had been cleansed. I'll definitely visit again!
