Miyoshino Sakuraan

We visited during Yoshino cherry blossom season. Our first-floor room looked out on beautiful blossoms, though people walking along Nanamagarizaka Hill could see us too. There are three baths for private use, booked by the hour. Several cars couldn’t park, so it’s best to tell them about parking in advance. During this season, rooms only are available, with no meals included. Eat while you’re out walking around or buy food beforehand.

I was glad to find a room during cherry blossom season. The inn is near the top of the Nanamagari trail, and the landlady seemed to be handling almost everything on her own. Each room had an assigned bath, so I could relax and enjoy it.

I wouldn’t stay here again. They said late check-in was fine, but when I arrived the bath was fully booked and I couldn’t use it. It wasn’t open in the morning either, so I was left wondering whether I was supposed to sleep without taking a bath. There were dogs barking, no tissues in the room, and hair and debris lying around. The service the next morning was so cold it was almost laughable. Maybe they were tired because it was busy season, but that wasn’t my concern. The whole stay was so bad that I decided to write a review.

I chose Sakuraan for a room-only stay because it was close to the station. I was there on November 14, 2021, and with only a few guests, they offered me a larger room than I’d planned, with a view of the autumn leaves. There was Wi-Fi, and while the bath wasn’t especially big, it was very relaxing. They were considerate about the COVID-19 situation and cleaned up after the previous bather before showing me the bath. I appreciated them accommodating my early departure the next morning. Thanks for the hospitality. I’d like to come back during cherry blossom season.
