Yufuin Bettei Kazenomori

The room was acceptably clean, but the price felt steep for what we got. The food was very ordinary, and the onsen wasn’t hot; there was fungus around it too. It’s within walking distance of town, but nothing about the stay stood out. I wouldn’t recommend it, as I think there are better options around Yufurin.

The breakfast had no drinks. When I asked, the waiter sent me to the lounge to make coffee myself on a complicated machine, and even the staff didn’t seem to know how to use it. The food was only okay for the nightly price, which I don’t think was worth even three stars. The bathroom was really cold, so showering wasn’t enjoyable, and the onsen wasn’t hot either. The owner warned us not to leave the hot water running, but it was so cold. It was the worst onsen experience I’ve had. Our heater also shut itself off early in the morning, leaving the room freezing. Overall, this place is overrated. Nothing felt exceptional or excellent.

I really liked how quiet and peaceful this small resort was. Its traditional Japanese style, artistic decorations, and pottery made the whole place beautiful. There was a small private onsen in our room, and both dinner and breakfast were very good. The staff were friendly and helpful, too. It’s one of my favorite hot spring resorts I’ve visited, and I hope to return in the near future.

We had a delicious kaiseki dinner and breakfast, and the service was top notch. The private onsen made this a wonderful ryokan stay. I’d absolutely come back.
