Yufuin Bettei Itsuki

We only stayed one night, but it was an experience we’ll never forget. The ryokan sits a little away from the tourist spots, so the walk gives you a feel for the village and the farms around it. Our villa-style room was huge. We walked through a beautifully arranged garden to reach it, then had a separate living room and bedroom, plus our own garden, patio, and onsen. We were lucky to have a bath facing mount yufu, so we could relax with the mountain in view. Dinner was exceptional. We ate in a private room and could wear traditional yukata. Every dish was delicious and beautifully arranged, and all the little details impressed us. After dinner, our waiter suggested a five-minute walk from the ryokan to watch the hanabi (fireworks) festival across the farmers fields. It was gorgeous. Thank you for such a wonderful stay.

The location worked perfectly for us. We could walk to the lovely tourist street with its cute food stalls, Lake Kinriko, Yufuin Floral Village, Yufuin JR Train Station, and the bus station. The grounds, landscaping, and layout were a treat, and our room had a tatami area plus two onsens, indoor and outdoor, just for us. They were wonderful after long days. The staff were really helpful and made sure we were comfortable. Dinner and breakfast were exceptional. We had Japanese dinners, and alternated between Japanese and Western breakfasts. If we get back to Yufuin, we’ll definitely stay at this Ryokan again. CV, Canada (April 2025)

We stayed two nights and were very pleased. The place is in a quiet area, but only a short walk from Yufuin Floral Village. Staff were kind, and most spoke English. Both breakfast and dinner were delicious and beautifully served. I was surprised there was an all-you-can-drink menu.
