Yufuin Floral Village Hotel

The village is small, but there are lots of details to enjoy as you wander its narrow lanes between boutique shops, themed cafés, and souvenir stores. Some are inspired by familiar stories and characters, which gives the place a playful, nostalgic feel. Yufuin Floral Village is in the peaceful hot spring town of Yufuin in Oita Prefecture, with a look inspired by the English countryside, especially the Cotswolds. Stone cottages, ivy-covered walls, and colorful flowers make it feel like a fairytale. It’s also a lovely place to take photos. Flowers, rustic buildings, and seasonal decorations create a charming scene throughout the year, from spring blooms to warm autumn colors. There are small animal areas where you can see owls, rabbits, and other cute creatures up close, although some people may have mixed feelings about animal enclosures. It’s a short walk from Yufuin Station and near famous Kinrin Lake, so it’s easy to fit into a day trip. Couples, families, or anyone after a relaxed, pretty stop may enjoy it. It can feel a little touristy, but the theme and careful details make it memorable. A nice place to slow down, take photos, and enjoy a whimsical break in Yufuin.

Yufuin Floral Village is a cute little place. It’s small, but charming, like a tiny European fairy-tale town nestled in the mountains. The cobblestone paths, cottages covered in flowers, and playful themed shops make it a nice place to wander and take photos. You can walk through the whole village in about 5 to 10 minutes, so it isn’t a major attraction, but it’s a pleasant stop to relax. Some shops are a little expensive, and it gets crowded around midday, but the atmosphere is sweet and enjoyable. It’s ideal for photos, a bit of browsing, and enjoying a cozy storybook feel.

A cool little place between two shopping streets. It makes the whole street feel much more interesting and distinctive. It’s meant to look like a village from a Studio Ghibli film, and I can see why. I think kids would enjoy it.

The village is built on a smaller scale and doesn’t quite match the real filming location in the alleys of Scotland, which I’ve visited before. Still, the atmosphere is wonderful. We didn’t stay overnight. We drove there, found a parking space, and walked toward the lake before having lunch. Afterward, we crossed to the other side of the village for dango and fresh coffee, took some scenic photos, and bought a doll and socks as souvenirs before driving to Beppu for the night.
