Mitsuju (I’m not sure I’ve spelled that right 🫣) was so kind, warm, and caring. The hot spring baths and the food made for an amazing experience. We stayed with our 26-month-old and everything worked out well. Highly recommended 👍🏻👍🏻👍🏻👍🏻👍🏻

The hotel’s exterior looks old, but inside it has been renovated with a lot of charm. Our room felt more like a suite, with a separate living room, a spacious bathroom, and a small traditional-style bathtub. The view from both the room and bath was exceptional. When we arrived by car, several staff members came out right away to welcome us and carry our bags inside. My wife and our two young children had a delightful stay. The drive up involves very narrow, winding, steep hills. Also, some support arches inside are low, so if you’re tall, around six feet, you’ll need to duck. Otherwise, I can recommend this as a relaxing, quality retreat without hesitation.

The food was the best we had in Japan. The ryokan was clean and lovely, and everyone working there was friendly and very helpful. We’d definitely stay again if we came back to Hakone.
