Hotel Foresta Chokai

A friendly, pleasant place to stay.

I've stayed here often because I love the whole experience, from the guest rooms and food to the rich, lotion-like spring water and views of Mt. Chokai from the rooms. At the end of January, I saw a joint performance by two Akita maiko and local dancer Abe. They were all beautiful and graceful, the dancing was wonderful, and they were lovely storytellers. It made for a dreamlike, enjoyable time. I hope the hotel keeps holding events that showcase Akita's people and traditions. Thank you!

I stayed for one night for a business gathering. I didn't use the hot springs because I'm not a fan of them. The room, amenities, and fixtures were all average, but I was generally comfortable. Breakfast was a tasty buffet, and as usual I ate too much. The snowy scenery was simply breathtaking.

The room was warm, with plenty of space and large windows. Their frames made the scenery look like a painting, and apparently you can see Mt. Chokai from every room. I hope to come back in early spring, while there's still snow, even though the weather wasn't great this time. The hotel had a calm atmosphere and seemed well maintained. The roads leading there had been cleared, and they provided tools for clearing snow off my parked car. The spring water was thick and had a nice feel, but the open-air bath was closed because there was so much snow. We had a Japanese-Western fusion course for dinner, and breakfast was a buffet with lots of choices.
