Cloud Nine Naeba

I stayed during Fuji Rock Festival, and unless you're desperate, I wouldn't choose this place. There was no parking, air conditioning, fan, towels, vending machine, or refrigerator. The bath was supposedly open 24 hours, but it never seemed to get cleaned, and the mattresses weren't changed. The building is old, which I can understand, but there's still a lot they could do about hygiene and service. Charging such a high price just because it's Fuji Rock Festival doesn't seem right. The attitude seemed to be that if you don't like it, don't stay, so maybe someone comfortable with that approach would consider it.

For the price, it's okay if you just need somewhere to sleep. The rooms have no toilet or bath, and the communal bath is small, probably only big enough for about two people. The owner is very kind. There aren't shops or restaurants nearby, so bring something with you.

The price is reasonable, but unless you have a strong reason to stay here, I'd look elsewhere. Guest rooms and dining room were at least basically clean, while the rest of the inn seemed untouched. Thin walls and doors gave no soundproofing at all, so noisy neighbors can make it a real problem. The parking lot is small, and depending on your spot, you may have to hand over your keys. They might move your car around without you knowing, so keep that in mind if it bothers you. I also noticed low doors and ashtrays and cigarette butts scattered around.

The place is super cheap, and the owner was very nice. The food was delicious, and the bath was hot with a great shower. The facilities are a little old, I guess that's to be expected. My room was on the third floor with no elevator, so my knees were shaking by the time I got up there. I'd use it again.
