Naeba Village

Dinner was Chinese and breakfast was traditional Japanese, and both were very tasty. The service was excellent, including rides to and from the ski area when requested. It's a lovely, family-run Japanese ryokan. We had a western-style room with comfortable beds and our own shower, toilet, and sink. Japanese-style rooms with futons and a shared onsen are available too. I'd definitely stay again on a future visit.

I was grateful to get different menus on each of my nights, and the special Chinese dinner was absolutely delicious. The rice was Niigata Koshihikari, and I went back for four refills. There's a hot spring bath that warmed me right through, and the hotel was spotless and comfortable. A friend recommended the place, and they also offer rides to Naeba Ski Resort. There are a few restaurants nearby if you fancy going out for drinks. We had a great time with friends playing UNO and Othello, which you can borrow there.

The ride to the bus stop on the way back was much appreciated. My room was comfortable and well kept, and dinner was Chinese. The shrimp chili and braised pork were delicious. I would have liked to drink more, but there was a concert afterward. The building isn't barrier-free. Since my leg was sore, I appreciated being allowed to use the emergency exit. Handrails on the stairs would be nice. I'll definitely stay here again when I visit Naeba.

The staff were very friendly, and the place has a family-run feel rather than the atmosphere of a typical hotel. You take off your shoes at the entrance. It's a large property, close to bus stops and the ski slopes. There's also a personalized shuttle, though I didn't find it necessary. Breakfast and dinner are served in a traditional Japanese style.
