The food is mostly Chinese, with a comforting, home-cooked taste, and the nearby ski resort has a very convenient shuttle. This was my first stay and I found it quite good overall. The facilities seem to have been renovated and upgraded recently. There are still a few imperfections, but the staff were extremely dedicated and attentive. I’d definitely come back if I get the chance.

The only issue was the kerosene smell from the heater when we turned it on or off. It lingered in the room for hours.

I finally made it to see Xin'er at Siye Ski Resort! Those 48 hours were packed: an affordable ski lesson, self-serve hot pot, Chinese massage, a domestic convenience store, hot springs, a bar, KTV, endless chatting, and time with my best friend. The massage therapist was great. I added her on WeChat, and as someone who’s had massages regularly, I think her technique is the real deal. She’s been a sports student and a massage therapist for many years, and knows the acupressure points well. At 5,000 yen an hour, it’s really inexpensive for a ski resort. I told her I’d ask for her specifically when she returns to Tokyo after ski season. The trial lesson with a beginner snowboard instructor also cost 5,000 yen an hour, much less than the 18,000 yen per hour Dongdong paid. It felt like I saved 13,000 yen, and I’m more confident now. The domestic convenience store felt so familiar. There were lots of flavors I knew, plus some new favorites. I especially recommend the pork floss pastry. For breakfast, I had the big steamed buns made by Xin'er’s dad and thick congee with preserved egg and luncheon meat. I cleaned my plate both mornings and couldn’t eat lunch afterward. I didn’t get a chance to use the mahjong machine or game console at Siye this time. I’ll make up for it in March!

We ate well and slept well, and equipment rental was convenient. There’s even a shuttle bus from the ski resort!

The rooms were clean and warm, and the lobby and bar are simply amazing. The price is reasonable, too, so it’s great value. I’d love to stay here again!
