Yuzawa Ski House

The location among Japan's ski resorts makes this a handy base for skiing or snowboarding. They have affordable rentals and passes, and shuttle service is available. After check-in, you can return at any time, as long as you remember the security code. Our tatami-style room came with futons, a tea set, and toiletries. The service was excellent and the staff made the shared toilet, washroom, and bath feel comfortable. The extension outlets were broken, so we were glad we brought our own. Shared facilities may take some getting used to. Don't hesitate to ask questions, even if your Japanese isn't fluent.

The staff are welcoming and full of energy, and they'll take you to Gala and pick you up if you want. Rental gear is downstairs. The place is clean and has what you need, with a nice, affordable breakfast too. A great spot for a relaxed ski trip in Yuzawa.

This is our regular favorite. We book the snowboard set online ahead of time, as required, and the process is fairly smooth. The shop provides rides to and from the nearby ski resort, and sells special tickets that can get you big discounts on lift passes at various resorts.

There's a hot tub that's really hot, but therapeutic if you can handle it. The rooms are comfortable and well kept, and the snowfield is right across the street. Customer service was very good, helpful, and accommodating. Recommended.
