Cha-Villa

We were sorry to leave. We came for our anniversary and asked for a Japanese tatami room, since we like sleeping on futons. Western rooms are available too. The room had a fridge, microwave, kettle, cups, glasses, and a few cooking utensils, though we ate at restaurants and didn't use them. Shampoo and body wash were provided. The garden out front is lovely and unusually spacious for a guesthouse. We had coffee in the shade under the trees in the morning. The owners were friendly, and there's a cute dog at reception. We rented snorkels and saw turtles on both days. We were so happy here.

The room was clean and had enough space, and although the bathroom was small, it worked perfectly well. Rooms are private and set up for self-catering, but there's also a cafe open during the day, with a breakfast plate for ¥1000. The staff were very accommodating. Two speak English, and the others do their best. Since Zamami is a small village, they know good places to eat and can help with local transport information.

The seats were comfortable, and the tea and coffee tasted good, though they felt overpriced. The cheapest option was 500 yen. The cafe was okay, but there was no air conditioning, or it wasn't turned on. We rang the bell, but the woman at the counter didn't come, so we had to wait a while.

The location in the village is good, but the room felt more like a cheap bus station stop than somewhere for a pleasant weekend. The hotel is expensive for what it offers. The bathroom was tiny and uncomfortable, and the toilet made a very strange noise and looked like an airplane toilet. The kitchen was right beside the bed, and you had to rent dishes to prepare food. Wi-Fi only worked right in front of the cafeteria, about three meters away. Staff were almost never there, and we weren't satisfied with the sheets either.
