The view of the water point was unforgettable, with giraffes and monkeys coming there to drink. The camp itself is exceptional, and our room was comfortable, well equipped, and carefully designed with everything we needed. The staff were genuinely friendly, attentive, and accommodating. They made the camp feel like a warm home in the middle of Amboseli. There was a refined, delicious range of food to choose from, and I especially appreciated being woken with tea, coffee, and biscuits before the game drive.

The “tastes of Africa” choice at every meal was such a nice touch. We got to try local food and get familiar with the flavors, and James, our table server, was great. We asked if our guide could join us for meals. Getting that approved was a bit iffy, but it worked out fine, and we had a wonderful stay. The staff made us feel so welcome, and the handwritten notes, flowers, and bracelet gifts made the visit feel extra special. The meals were great too. We didn’t get the full view of Kilimanjaro because clouds covered it while we were there, but I’m sure it’s amazing when clear. We loved relaxing by the pool between game drives. There were a few precautions to protect the room from wildlife, but nothing excessive or inconvenient. A pair of dikdiks with their baby were near our tent 🥹. This was quite an introduction to Kenya and Africa. We’d go back in a heartbeat!

The quiet, intimate setting was just right for our honeymoon. From the start, we felt relaxed and genuinely special, and the thoughtful little touches throughout our stay made it even more memorable. The lodge is in a beautiful spot for enjoying Amboseli, and the staff were kind, attentive, and careful with every detail. We couldn’t have asked for a better stay, and would recommend it to anyone looking for a special experience.

Donald really looked after us with meals. At first he seemed a bit bewildered by how little my husband Craig and I ate, since we’re pretty plain eaters and aren’t used to three four-course meals a day. He even found Craig his beloved brownies. One day we skipped lunch, and, right on schedule, Donald came to our tent to check we hadn’t slept through it. We appreciated him so much. We booked exclusive use of a safari vehicle and had Simon to ourselves for all three days. He knew exactly where to take us and showed us so much. He knows his surroundings and the animals incredibly well. I hope he’s still there when I return so I can request him again. He was the crown on top of the Tortilas experience. We loved our October stay at Elewana Tortillas. The accommodation was lovely, and the bed was more comfortable than most hotel beds I’ve had. I was pleasantly surprised by the RODI water for brushing teeth and the hair dryer, and there was plenty of hot water and Wi-Fi strong enough to keep me connected without issues.

Our three nights were outstanding, and the team at Elewana has created a gorgeous place. Dickson made the trip with his knowledge, hospitality, and sense of humor. Tortilis gave us access to the Conservancy, which made our wildlife sightings exceptional. The views of Mt. Kilimanjaro and the bush breakfast were hard to beat. The property is thoughtfully designed, with small comforts like filtered water on tap in the rooms and very comfortable safari vehicles. Don’t skip the massage!
