Ol Tukai Lodge Amboseli

The pool is one of my favorite spots, raised above the plains where binoculars make it easy to watch elephants, warthogs, gazelles, and more throughout the day. I also liked the second-floor balcony above the bar, though trees block much of the view. All the rooms face Kilimanjaro, and it was a treat to see the clouds part around dawn. The lodge has a grand feel, with big beams, 20-foot ceilings, an elaborate bar chandelier featuring elephant tusks, and a carved wooden elephant frieze in the lobby. We stayed here in January 2026. This is one of just two lodges actually inside Amboseli, which makes game drives very convenient. Four rooms sit in each chalet-style building scattered around the grounds. The rooms are comfortable and nicely appointed, if a little dated. There’s no AC, as we found was common at Kenyan lodges, and although it cools down at night, only one screened window opens, so cross ventilation was tricky. The food was plentiful, but I didn’t find it especially tasty. Meals were buffet style, with about 15 hot items, salads, fruit, and desserts. I was pleasantly surprised that lunch was just as elaborate as dinner. The lodge seems to position itself as high end, and I’d agree, though it’s aging. It has great views of Amboseli and Kilimanjaro, a terrific location, and a very cool bar and pool.

The architecture and carefully maintained grounds were beautiful, and the hotel had a wonderful atmosphere. The food was just as impressive, flavorful and artfully presented. What stood out most was the service. The staff were incredibly friendly and helpful, always smiling and ready to assist with anything. Their warmth and dedication made me feel valued and gave the stay a special, unforgettable quality. The rooms were pristine, comfortable, and elegant, and the feeling of luxury and cleanliness was there from the moment I arrived. It exceeded my expectations. Ol Tukai Lodge is right in the heart of Amboseli, with wonderful views of Mount Kilimanjaro and wildlife roaming close by. Waking up to elephants grazing nearby was magical. The rooms were spacious, clean, and beautifully designed, with a real bush-luxury feel, and the food had great variety and tasted delicious. The staff were welcoming, attentive, and always ready to help. It’s one of the best safari lodges I’ve stayed at, and I highly recommend it to anyone visiting Amboseli.

Just had the best time at Ol Tukai Amboseli! 🤩 The hut was cozy, elephants were literally roaming around 😍, and the food was spot on. If you love animals, especially elephants, this place is a dream. 10/10, would recommend!
