Diamonds Leisure Beach & Golf Resort

We visited for three days on day passes and had a nice time. The whole area was clean and relaxing, with no loud music, and the staff were friendly and polite. There are four pools and broad access to the beach. A full-day pass costs 3000 kes and a half-day pass 1500 kes, including the beach, a sun-bed, a towel, and pool access, which is a plus compared with nearby resorts. Food and drinks aren’t included. You can eat at the à la carte restaurant on the beach or pay separately for the buffet, 3500 for lunch and 4000 for dinner.

The food was great, with healthy choices, and the beach was clean. I was here for a work conference and had a really good experience. The hotel was clean overall and conveniently located by the road, with a hospital, mall, and other restaurants easy to reach. Staff were attentive and quick to respond. Erick was especially helpful during the conference, and the guests were happy.

Diamonds is a pretty resort, though the room was small. I went with my girlfriend in the summer of 2024, and after two days we both got food poisoning (E.coli). That’s where the holiday fell apart. The front desk didn’t seem to understand how serious it was, didn’t call a doctor, and sent housekeeping to clean the vomit. They first did it without a mop, then again without disinfectant. The doctor was finally called the next day. After examining us, the doctor rushed us to a nearby hospital. We were discharged a day and five IV drips each later. A week after that, we were in a head-on tuktuk crash with a drunk driver, and I had to go to hospital again for stitches in my leg. At the end of the trip, I spoke with the GM, who said he’d spoken to the president of Diamonds. Because of our terrible experience, the president offered my girlfriend and me a free all-inclusive stay at any of their resorts, with no time limit on when we could take it. Eighteen months later, my attempts to reach the GM have met static, and it’s now obvious the president and GM have reneged on the agreement. Very dishonest! I can’t judge the food since we didn’t eat there again after the food poisoning. One last thing, they use the old “lime trick” in cocktails instead of the correct measure of alcohol. Worst holiday experience!

The waiters, waitresses, and security team have been amazing, and the beach is beautiful. Those are the two stars. I’m writing this while still at the resort, on what was meant to be a really chill birthday trip, and so far there’s been too much hassle for what we’re paying. After arriving around half past noon, I waited about three hours for the room. When I finally got in, the floors weren’t properly cleaned. At around 4pm on check-in day, I noticed the lounge light wasn’t working. Reception said maintenance would come soon, but after an hour nobody had shown up. I called reception three more times over the next couple of hours before maintenance finally came to fix it. The next day, breakfast upset my stomach. By about 1pm I felt worse and urgently needed a doctor or medicine. I was told the doctor was away for the holiday. The receptionist helped me contact the nearest pharmacy, so I arranged delivery of medicine, but there was no first aid while I waited. I went back to my room around 2pm to rest, but it was exactly as I’d left it after breakfast at about 7:30am. I called reception for housekeeping and waited, with no response. Remembering the maintenance delay, I went to find housekeeping myself and ask them to come. All that reception and housekeeping coordination ate into the time I needed to recover. In the rush to get housekeeping sorted, I left my key in the room. I asked reception to have housekeeping drop it at the front desk when they finished. At 7pm, after leaving the beach, I stopped to collect it, only to find it wasn’t there. We called housekeeping to open the room, and I was told to meet them there. Nobody was there when I arrived, so I had to go back to reception and ask them to follow up. These poor customer experiences may be few and far between, but they ruin the stay. Everything feels like too much work. It’s too much of a hustle, and not worth it at all.
