Hotel Cathay

I really liked the food, especially the fillet fingers with French chips, samosas, and evening coffee. They also serve great salads for vegetarians. There’s good music in the disco hall and a nice range of wine and beer. I wasn’t keen on how exposed the swimming pool is.

The chef makes excellent food, and there’s a broad menu, including a good children’s menu. The juice selection is limited. Waiters are courteous and professional, and reception is good. There’s plenty of parking, strong security, and a spacious restaurant layout that gives conversations privacy. Families have room too, and kids can come for a swim. It’s peaceful and away from noise, so I’d also recommend Hotel Cathay for conferences. Wheelchair accessible.

A handy stop if you’re driving late toward Kisumu or Nairobi. Their wake-up service is hard to beat, and they even packed breakfast for us at 4 am. The chicken portions are generous, and the rooms are very clean. Would be nice to have tea-making supplies in the room.

It’s easy to get to from the Nakuru CBD, right opposite JR Mall. The quiet setting makes it good for business meetings and unwinding after work, and the staff are friendly and helpful. Rooms are comfortable and decent, though the shower heads and balcony furniture could use small updates. The pool is great, and there are pleasant outdoor seating areas with nice breezes. The food is good too.
