Kikopey Beach Camp

The campsite manager was kind and accommodating. We bought firewood, and he arranged and lit a fire for us. We were the only campers during our visit, though there are plenty of spots, and the layout gives you privacy by the lake. It’s a wonderful place to wake up and see the flamingos. The toilets and showers are basic. The site is advertised as eco-friendly, but the showers didn’t seem to run on solar power. They had electrical tops, but these weren’t working, so we had no hot shower. The food was okay, though there weren’t many options for us as vegetarians. It was enough for one night. The price is reasonable at 750 KES per person, including children.

We only booked one night and wished we’d planned to stay longer. The place was so peaceful, clean, and beautiful. Judith, the owner, was lovely, and the staff welcomed us warmly and were kind and helpful. We had delicious food and saw flamingos and buffaloes hanging out at the edge of the lake. Camping is a great option here, and there are cottages if you want more comfort. Everything felt fairly priced. Thank you for hosting us, kikopey. We’ll be back.

Camping is excellent value at 500 per person per night, and the lake view is lovely. The rooms look nice, WiFi is great, and the bar is stocked at reasonable prices. The showers need fixing. They’re suicide showers, and only one was working, with electric shocks as well.

We stayed with family over a long weekend at this quiet, private beachfront camp, with lots of vegetation. There’s a two-bedroom cabin and two tents, and you can bring your own tent too. Lake Elementaita, flamingos, and zebras are easy to see across the fence, since the camp borders KWS land. The food was okay. Judy, the owner, was friendly and treated us to tea at night while we had a lovely chat. Fred and Moses were always happy to help. The hot springs are a short drive away and well worth the trip. They’re also working on expanding the camp.
