So sad to see this hotel falling into ruin. The rooms are beautiful, but the bathrooms and doors have been stripped out. The dining room was dirty, so we had breakfast outside, and the gardens aren't maintained at all. The three very young staff seemed surprised to have guests staying. (Feb.2026)

It's still a pleasant road stop on the way to Kisumu, especially for a good cup of tea. The grounds are absolutely beautiful, and there's a pool that was added to this old hotel from the colonial days. But nothing has been done to the buildings or furnishings, and the original wooden floor in the entryway and bar remains in bad shape. You can no longer stay overnight in the individual cottages.

There's a clean, quiet, serene setting, with good parking and a garden where you can sit while you're served. The service was a bit poor: most of the dishes listed on the menu weren't available, and we waited over an hour for french fries. When they came, we got just one plate instead of four. It could still be a good place for a friends' or family day out.

The setting is great for conference meetings, and the food is good. Service is top notch and the environment is lovely. They just need to install Internet, and it'll be good to go.

Stopped in for breakfast in this beautiful, peaceful setting, and was so happy with my cup of locally brewed chai. Pure bliss.
