There’s plenty of wildlife around, and you can go fishing. The grounds are nice, though they could be cleaner, and the restaurant is quite decent. Staff were friendly and ready to help. The hotel is on Mombasa highway, and the rooms are good, but could use a few small touches. I’d recommend a visit.

The vegetables were delicious, and one piece of beef was good, but the other was too tough for me to cut with my knife. Nobody checked whether the meal was okay, so we shared the good piece. Later, the waitress and another young woman tried to keep the monkeys away with slingshots. Earlier, while we were waiting for lunch, a mother monkey with a cute baby came by. We thought she might not want to show the baby, and when we asked if the monkeys were a problem, the waitress said no. Then, as lunch sat on our table, another monkey jumped up, grabbed potatoes and ran off, leaving a big mess. A little later we got chips instead, since potatoes weren't possible, and those were fine. The place was beautiful and the welcome was warm, but a lot went wrong. We were short on time, so when paying we asked if we could have a Kenyan brandy as compensation. The waitress went back and forth to ask the boss, and although her English was very good, she seemed not to understand. They asked whether we wanted compensation for the monkeys or the beef, saying something had gone wrong with the oven. The kitchen issue wasn't what mattered to me, only what ended up on the table. In the end, they said they never give compensation. That was the wrong decision.

The location is good and the staff were good, but Frida, the manager, was mean and rude. I wouldn't recommend it for a group of people. She even told a client to pay 500shs for the drivers who had enjoyed sitting in the hotel's comfortable chairs. Very disappointing.

It’s a great place, but there’s a rude woman in the dining and kitchen area. I didn’t catch her name. I’m sure I wasn’t the only one unhappy with her service.
