Mesite Classic Resort, Kilifi

The room itself may be decent, but the manager’s dishonesty and mind games made the stay feel like too much trouble. After booking through expedia and speaking with the manager a few days before I arrived for Beneath the Baobabs Festival, I was told on arrival that there was no room. About 30 minutes later, one suddenly became available, at twice the original rate. The explanation was that a woman had cancelled because of a “stomach ache.” If you’re going to the BTB festival, I’d avoid booking here. I’ve heard this has happened to other people too, so be careful when arranging a stay at “Mestie Classic Resort.” If you’re going to beneath the baobabs, stay away.

We arrived to find out that there was supposedly no room, even though I’d booked through expedia and the payment was confirmed. A couple of minutes later they said our room was available, but only if we paid double the rate. The service was terrible. I strongly recommend against booking here.

An affordable, cozy place run by a nice lady, who also has to look after the drunk young people coming from the festival. Keep at it, and I hope the business grows!
