Hotel Zesper

I had a very disappointing visit to Zesper Hotel, Kisii. Some pieces of the chicken smelled clearly bad and tasted spoiled. I developed an upset stomach and diarrhea after eating it. The manager made things worse by insisting the food was fresh despite the obvious smell, which felt dismissive and unprofessional. Food safety and customer concerns need to be taken seriously. Based on what happened, I wouldn’t recommend the hotel.

The rooms were large, with spacious, well-lit bathrooms, and the location was great. We only had breakfast there, and it was good. The mattress was a bit hard, though. It’s not a bad hotel.

The price is affordable, and the staff are courteous. Rooms are clean, spacious, comfortable, and surprisingly quiet even though they face a busy street. Some have balconies, though there’s no outdoor furniture. Wi-Fi is free, but entering the password is a bit of a challenge. 😅 Breakfast is tasty and heavy, but you can’t choose what you’d prefer or how much you want. At least nobody can complain they left hungry. 😅 The restaurant gets stuffy in the evenings when the windows are shut, so management should improve ventilation in the kitchen. Rooms on the upper floors are reached by stairs, and I didn’t see an option for people with disabilities or mobility challenges. Highly recommended.

Joash was really nice and served us with a smile, as did Emma and the others. I enjoyed the stay, with comfortable, excellent rooms and a nice restaurant separate from the bar. The food was excellent too. It’s also good for business travel, with a study table for your documents.
