The location is decent and the lake view is lovely, but we've decided not to come back or recommend the place to friends. On our first visit, my wife, son, and I found no bathroom light or TV, and fire ants were all over the room. The manager kindly gave us credit for a night we'd paid for but left early. A few weeks later, my wife and I gave Lakeside another try for a weekend. We explained the earlier problems and were assured this room would be better. I prepaid again, which was a big mistake. The shower was scalding hot, the faucet was broken, and the plumber they said they'd called never came. The TV still didn't work, and ants were around the whole property. The soldier did wash my motorcycle well, and the food was actually pretty decent. Still, they didn't follow through on what they said, and getting burned in the shower was the last straw. Travelers, beware.

The place is neat and feels secure, with great lake views, a swimming pool, and a residents' club on the top floor. The rooms do have a few things that could be improved.

Dunga Lakeside Resort worked well for us, with a pool, meals, Wi-Fi, and other services as requested. Dunga Beach is near the resort, and Kisumu city is a drive away on a tarmacked road. The city is very clean, and the beach is well kept too. There are plenty of fish, priced from Kshs. 300 to 2000, or $3 to $20 depending on size. You can also find places to sit and enjoy the lake's peaceful scenery alone or as a couple. It's a nice place for a vacation, with lovely lake views and a serene setting. Many people visit, including high-class guests. Welcome to Kisumu City and Dunga Beach.

I had a lovely day here with friends in a peaceful, private lakeside setting. The perimeter wall blocks the lake view, though you can see it from the rooftop. I'd recommend it to anyone looking for a quiet bit of outdoor fun.
