Melvic Hotel

Stay far away from this hotel. It should be taken off the Internet so people stop getting ripped off. In this day and age, guests sleeping across about four different rooms had to share one key. The online photos are misleading, there was no Internet, and the manager was nowhere to be found. I do want to commend one worker, Jack Oyoo. Any hotel owner in Kenya would be lucky to have him. Our group had over 30 upset women, and he handled things on his own, as if he’d been left to deal with us. Thank you, Jack. We went on to TZ and had a good experience, but dreaded coming back to this hotel, which we had to do. We had paid four months before arriving.

It was a great stay in some ways, but the expense didn’t feel justified. There was mould on the walls, a torn, damp towel, and no Wi-Fi. A parked car’s alarm went off all night, and management made no effort to stop the noise.

The bathroom wasn’t working, and the hot shower didn’t work either. The toilet door had a hole in it, and the towels were torn. This is the worst hotel I’ve ever stayed in. Don’t come here.

I booked this for my mom, who landed at 7 pm and didn’t want to risk traveling to Maseno St at that hour. At the airport, one of the women told her the hotel was near both the city centre and the airport. When she arrived, the tap wasn’t working. I asked her to request a switch, but she said she’d call them in the morning. They fixed the tap then, but couldn’t provide hot or even warm water for her shower, so she had to bathe in cold water. For what she paid, the hotel needs to make major improvements.
