I stopped here on my way to Kapenguria and really liked the atmosphere. It’s out of town, so it feels calm and is a nice place to sit and reminisce.

It was an okay place, though not especially exciting. I didn’t stay overnight, so I can’t say what the rooms are like. The pool couldn’t be used, and several things listed on the menu weren’t available, so I wound up ordering fries.

I stopped in to eat. The food was okay, but too expensive, and it took nearly two hours to arrive!

It can get chilly because the hotel sits on the slopes of Mt. Elgon, but I still highly recommend it. The atmosphere is peaceful, the staff are courteous, and the food is delicious. My room was clean and spacious, and the pool, spa, and gym made for a relaxing stay. It’s a wonderful hotel, with a nice balance of comfort and elegance.

At checkout, the front desk lady tried to add charges that weren’t disclosed when I booked, then asked for more than three times the room rate. She accepted the mistake after I worked out the numbers myself. Earlier, I’d requested a “superior” room, but the bed was small and there was no desk. When I raised that, staff brought in a folding table. The gym wasn’t well maintained, and I had no hot water. By the morning of day two, even the cold water had stopped working. In the evening, they blasted music at 100 db right above my room.
