We were so reluctant to leave after such a great stay. The whole team made us feel welcome, and Erick was the guide we could have hoped for. We truly couldn’t have asked for a better experience. If I get back to the Maasai Mara, I’ll absolutely stay here again.

The guides were a real highlight, knowledgeable and excellent, and they made a big difference to the experience. Everyone at Governors’ Camp was welcoming, kind, and attentive, and we felt looked after the whole time. The camp is comfortable and has a classic feel, with a beautiful setting. We learned a lot and had a special stay in the Masai Mara that we’ll remember fondly.

A real bucket list destination, with an incredible level of luxury for the setting. The drivers know their stuff and get you SUPER close to the wildlife. Seeing the animals is obviously the point, and these people are pros. Food and service were exceptional.

I’ve been working at Governors' Camp for a month, filming wildlife. James, Frida, Fred, Daniel, David and Kirui have taken fantastic care of us and made sure we have what we need. The food is fantastic too, and the location is magnificent.

We flew into Musiara airstrip and were met by our guide and driver Ntuala, who warmly welcomed us and drove us the ten minutes to camp. There we got another welcome and a cold towel, then unpacked quickly in our tent. We only had time for a peek at the river and a wow at the hippos before heading out on our first evening game drive. The drives were spectacular throughout our four nights. The Masai Mara was something else, and Ntuala knew so much. We had many close, respectful, safe sightings of the big 5, a few moments that really got the heart racing, and loads of other wildlife. I felt like I was in a nature documentary. Mornings started early, with coffee and biscuits brought to the tent, then we’d head out to watch the sunrise and the bush waking up. We had bush breakfasts on three days, each in a wonderful spot. The one overlooking the river hippos was especially good. We’d get back around 11:30, shower, then have Tusker beers before lunch, watching the hippos, monkeys, and countless birds. Lunch on the lawn was relaxed and delicious. Dinner was another treat, with great food and wine in the restaurant tent. One night a hippo wandered past on his way out, and an elephant walked by the bar tent. The staff were all friendly and warm, with Duncan deserving a special mention for his cheerful “You are welcome very much!” We headed out again around 3:30 each afternoon for the evening drive and sundowners. After that there was time to freshen up before dinner, unless elephants were blocking the way. On our last morning, we slept in a little, though the monkeys didn’t get the memo. A family of elephants came right up to our tent door, sniffing around for marula fruits. Being separated from several tonnes of elephant by just a few millimeters of canvas really brought home what a once in a lifetime stay Governor's Camp had been. Asante sana for memories I’ll treasure.
