The beach has lovely views at both sunrise and sunset, and it's semi-private. The place is cool, with pets to play with, hammocks, and outdoor seating where you can read or get some private work done. We found it at the last minute after a disappointing night elsewhere in Mombasa, and choosing it was the best decision of our stay. The staff were very friendly, especially the host, who showed us around and guided us during the few days we were there. You can save on meals by cooking your own food in the rooms, which we often did after shopping. Other times, we let the staff prepare coastal cuisine, then had lunch or dinner together.

The workers are great, the views are beautiful, and it's very affordable, but the cottages are really run down. There isn't a cooker, and no decent restaurant is within kilometers. The compound doesn't have a large fence or similar security, though we felt safe anyway. It's right by an abandoned stretch of Shelly Beach. Having to take the Likoni ferry whenever we need decent groceries is annoying. A bridge to Likoni would make this place perfect.

Please don't book this place. It's so poorly managed that it isn't fit for a human stay. Booking.com and Expedia, how do you allow homes like this on your sites? Don't be taken in by the positive reviews.
