Arizona Hotel

Dinner was the bright spot: the traditional food was delicious and well cooked. Breakfast was simple but warm, cooked well, and served quickly. The rest of my stay was awful. When I arrived, the room had no toilet seat or bathroom light. The receptionist said repairs would be done the next morning and that there were no other rooms. There was no hot water in this supposed three-star hotel, and the TV remote didn’t work. Staff were nonchalant at best and dismissive at worst. I couldn’t sleep properly because nearby nightclubs blasted music and revelers’ shouts came through the windows. The windows wouldn’t close firmly and had no soundproofing. Sunday morning music services were even louder and woke me up. After I’d been out all day, I came back to find the room hadn’t been cleaned or tidied. There was no water at all, and the promised repairs still hadn’t happened. When I asked about the water, I was told someone would come to fix it. After waiting an hour, I went out to check and found an old paint tin full of water and a bucket by my door. The receptionist said it was my water supply because the disruption would last another day. I was appalled. She took a phone call without apologizing. I told the manager I was leaving and asked for a refund, but was refused. They said I could leave if I wanted, so I did. Avoid Hotel Arizonas at all costs unless you want to feel abused, insulted, and frustrated by staff who don’t understand basic hospitality. There are several nearby hotels with much better amenities at comparable prices. Nairobi can do better than this. This is without a doubt the worst hotel I’ve ever visited, and I’d tell anyone who wants to enjoy Nairobi to avoid it.
