Cockroaches everywhere, no running water, and no concrete help from the host. After a full night of travel, I arrived to find the apartment heavily infested with cockroaches, not just one or two. The room was dirty and unusable. There was no running water at check-in, so I spent the whole first half of the day waiting and unable to use the bathroom. The host promised repairs, which eventually happened, but the room wasn’t operational and we should have been moved. No room change was offered. I had to insist repeatedly and push hard, but still wasn’t able to get moved. I’d gone to great lengths to travel to Kenya, a country I was genuinely excited to visit. Those conditions ruined my first day, and should never have been offered to a paying guest. To be specific, the apartment had a serious cockroach infestation, no water on arrival, and a dirty, non-operational room, including the couch, carpet, and bed. There was no proactive solution, and hours were wasted waiting and insisting before anything was done. This was a health and safety failure. I wouldn’t wish it on anyone, especially someone arriving exhausted after an international flight. Avoid this place entirely.
