Golden Tulip Westlands Nairobi

The tight parking area in front is really only enough for dropping someone off. Inside, the rooms are spacious and practical, and some blocks have very good views. Staff were courteous everywhere, from the gate to the restaurant. Great service and menu overall.

We had an issue with the air conditioning, but it was sorted out. The rooftop on the 10th floor has a pool, bar, and restaurant, and the food there was decent. This is an older but comfortable hotel that works well for a few days in Nairobi. It has what you'd expect from a decent hotel, and the staff are very helpful. Breakfast is on the first floor, with a good selection of Continental, African, and Indian dishes. It seems popular for conferences and large groups, as we saw many groups eating breakfast together. It's in Westlands, about a 25-minute drive from the airport using the toll road.

The food was plentiful and good, and the staff were really nice and helpful. I had a wonderful time at the Golden Tulip. There's a gym, a pool, and good Wi-Fi, too. I'd definitely recommend it.

The rooftop bar was the best part of the stay. The three bartenders were great, especially Perus, who kept my cousin and me chatting and ordering drinks. If we come back to Kenya soon, we'd visit the Golden Tulip just to talk to Perus. A good bartender makes a bar feel welcoming and fun. The staff service was spot on in general. Front desk staff were amazing, and the breakfast host was great, though the breakfast room itself wasn't. I had one room service hiccup on my last night, when the staff member had to come to my room three times. My room faced an office building whose light shone into it. There were hard water stains and calcium buildup in the shower, and I didn't want to look at the dirt in one corner, so the front desk sent someone to clean it. The shower sprayer also had rust stains. The king bed was made from two twin beds pushed together, with no foam or pillow top over the join. I felt the hard spot when I rolled over, and didn't get one good night's sleep. The TV service kept cutting out, with colored streaks on screen and pauses in the sound, as if reception was poor. The front desk said they needed to reboot the hotel's internet service. If the internet is the cause, the bandwidth needs to be increased for all the people watching.
