A quiet spot to park in Nairobi’s neighborhood, with shopping malls, fruit markets, and a nice organic farmers market nearby on Saturdays.

It’s a good escape from the city while still being close enough to visit the usual tourist attractions. The place is peaceful during the day, with only the ibis and the occasional monkey making noise. There are two lovely dogs and two just as lovely cats. Boniface at the bar gave great service, and the owner, Githoni (excuse my spelling), is very attentive and always nearby if you need help.

I stayed for a month because of the severe flooding in Kenya at the time. The overlander facilities were limited but usable, and I was able to keep my electricity going and purify my own water. There’s an evening bar, basic rooms and amenities, Wi-Fi, and good rates.

At 1000 per person per night, it works, and I’d stay again at that price. If the rate goes above 1000 while things are still as they are, I’d go elsewhere. The place could use some sprucing up. The manager is helpful, though not especially jolly, and payment is requested daily. There’s plenty of grass for tents, level ground for cars, and the gate is locked. It’s close to supermarkets and malls. Washing-up sinks and a bar are available; the bar is popular but not noisy. I think there was Wi-Fi, though we didn’t use it. The outside shower was either out of order or cold, we didn’t try it, but there’s a good hot shower in the building, which is a plus. They said the water was potable. It’s better value than other places, though the camping itself isn’t great. We were told the food wasn’t good and had made them sick that night. They only had a burger, so be careful and ask for it well done.

A beautiful garden and a brilliant spot for a cheap snack in deep Karen.
