I paid 2000 KES a night, which wasn’t too bad, but I left the next morning for somewhere better. There was a lot of noise and I couldn’t rest properly. I also found cockroaches and torn sheets, and most of the appliances, including the sockets, didn’t work. I expected breakfast to be included, but the hotel doesn’t offer free breakfast in its package. They should either include it or make that clear beforehand. The welcome wasn’t good either. I had to wait by the gate with the guard for the host, and I’d recommend setting up a reception area. Guests should be greeted with humility and warmth so they feel at ease when they arrive to rest.

A horrible stay, with terrible customer service, no cleanliness to speak of, and torn bedding. They chased us out well before checkout because they wanted another client to check in. Housekeeping started knocking from 7 a.m. and telling us to hand over the key. Pathetic is putting it mildly.

It may have been better years ago, but right now I’d save yourself the headache. There were cockroaches throughout the rooms and restaurant. Apart from Edna, the hotel staff were extremely rude and impolite. The worst hotel in Nairobi, in my experience. I don’t think they should be in business.

Kings west Suites (Rm602), formerly Hotel Emeli, was the worst. The workers didn’t respond, there were no mugs for tea or coffee, and the beds were made with sheets that were too small. The TV and fridge didn’t work, and nothing was done even after we told the girl who gave us the room. There were cockroaches in the room too.
